*crown* Columbia Law School To-Do Tuesday

Hello [FIRST_NAME],

Happy To-Do Tuesday! For those of you who are supported by accessibility-related accommodations, you can begin to register your accommodations before the start of school. Below are some key points of contact and an overview of the registration process. In addition, the Human Rights Institute shares the 1L Advocates Program application.

Accommodations Webinar: July 15 at 1 p.m. EDT

Come to a joint webinar with Disability Services and Student Services to learn more about the accommodation registration process. Please make every effort to attend to get your questions answered. The webinar will be recorded for those who are unable to attend. Sign up for the webinar.

Due July 21—Accommodations Registration

Disability Services (DS) facilitates access to Columbia’s academic programs, campus resources, and activities by coordinating accommodations and support services for students with disabilities. DS works with students with all types of disabilities including, but not limited to physical, psychological, sensory, learning disabilities, AD/HD, temporary and chronic medical conditions.

Accommodations are determined on a case by case basis and students seeking them are required to register with the office. The registration process related to academic accommodations can take three weeks to complete for incoming students and can be initiated any time. However, it is strongly recommended that you contact DS no later than July 21 so accommodations can be determined prior to your arrival on campus for the fall. The deadline for requesting housing accommodations for incoming fall Law School students was May 2.

Please contact the Office of Disability Services by calling 212-854-2388 or emailing disability@columbia.edu.

  • To learn more about the resources available to support students with accessibility or health-related needs, temporary personal challenges, or to discuss which accommodations would best support you during your time at the Law School, please contact Lauren Levy, the Law School's Associate Director of Academic Counseling and Student Support.

Due Tuesday, June 30—The Human Rights Institute 1L Advocates Program

Apply: Columbia Law’s Human Rights Institute – 1L Advocates Program (1LAP)

All incoming 1L students are invited to apply for Columbia Law’s unique Human Rights Institute 1L Advocates Program (1LAP). This program is for students with a strong commitment to and interest in human rights. Students selected for the program participate in specialized seminars, real human rights work with NGOs and the UN, community-building programming, and receive tailored mentoring from students and faculty.

Applications are due on Tuesday, June 30. Please contact Waleed Alhariri, Managing Director of the Human Rights Institute, with any questions.

Due This Week

Due June 15—Dean’s Certification(s)

To matriculate at Columbia Law School, you must submit a completed Dean’s Certification Form from each school at which you matriculated toward a degree, including graduate programs and any school from which you may have transferred.

The Dean’s Certification Form should be given to a dean or other administrator who has access to your complete school records. Note: It is not required that the dean or other administrator know you personally; the certification is often a report based on an examination of your school records.

Upon completion, instruct the dean or other administrator to send the certification(s) directly to the Columbia Law School Office of Admissions no later than June 15, 2026.

  • Via email (strongly preferred): to deanscerts@law.columbia.edu (email must come from an official university account).
  • Via post (in a signed and sealed envelope): to Columbia Law School, Office of Admissions, 435 West 116th Street, MC 4004, New York, NY 10027-7297.
Please note that Dean’s Certification Forms submitted as part of your initial application are sufficient as long as they were signed after the degree conferral date. Those completing their undergraduate studies in 2025 should wait until their degree is conferred to submit the Dean’s Certification Form, to avoid having to resubmit it.

Due June 15—Immunization Requirements

There are two immunization requirements that all students—regardless of credit load—must meet.

MMR: New York State public health law and university policy requires that all students born on or after January 1, 1957 document immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella. This requirement applies before students are permitted to register for their first term at Columbia.

Meningitis Decision: New York State public health law and university policy requires that students must also document that they either have received the meningococcal meningitis vaccine (MenACWY) or have declined to receive it. This requirement applies before a student is permitted to register for their first term at Columbia.

While not required, it is also strongly recommended that students submit COVID-19 and flu vaccination records.

Submitting Documentation

Submit documentation to the Columbia Health Immunization Compliance Office. PLEASE SUBMIT DOCUMENTATION ONLY ONCE using one method and allow at least 15 business days for processing. Submitting via multiple methods will result in delays. The office will reach out via your Columbia email if your records do not demonstrate the required compliance.

Preferred Methods:

Online: Secure digital upload via the Columbia Health Patient Portal (Immunization Record under the Medical Clearances section)

See step-by-step instructions for:

  • MMR
  • Meningitis Decision
Fax: 212-854-5078

Alternate Method:

There is no in-person option to submit documentation. Please use only the methods described above.

Be sure to keep a copy of your fax or delivery confirmation as we cannot verify receipt of individual documents. For questions or concerns regarding your immunization documentation, please email immunizationcompliance@columbia.edu.

The deadline to submit your immunization records is June 15 so that we can register you for classes this summer. You cannot be registered for classes or receive your financial aid disbursement if you have an immunization hold.
